THE COLLABORATION

Tzelan's Coat Peg was created for the Park Hyatt Washington in Washington, D.C., as a collaboration with the studio of tonychi. Designed and developed to embrace the hotel's classic, but modern American look & feel, the Coat Peg is cast and handmade to be an artful object used by guests day-to-day.

THE DESIGN

Tzelan's Coat Peg was inspired by colonial America's Shaker culture, and specifically, the Shaker pegs––arguably one of the first modernist objects. Once found in every room of a traditional Shaker home, Shaker pegs were typically carved out of wood and placed on walls at head or shoulder height to hang an array of objects, including hats, coats, even chairs. Tzelan's Coat Peg evolved from this particular heritage and was developed with an updated, contemporary feel.

QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP

Tzelan's Coat Peg is handmade in downtown Buenos Aires, Argentina by craftspeople with an expertise in bronze. The raw material is melted and cast into its distinctive shape, assembled whole, covered with chromium and nickel and finally, polished to perfection.
